Shots vs
Descript
Descript made editing by transcript popular, and it's excellent for podcasts, talks and screen recordings. Shots edits by transcript too, and also by what's in the picture: it watches your clips, finds the moments and fills gaps with generated shots.
Spoken content. Record, transcribe and edit podcasts, talks and screen recordings like a document.
Any footage. Edit by asking, by transcript or on the timeline, and generate the shots you didn't get.
The short version.
Descript reads what's said. Shots reads what's said and what's on screen.
Search for “the dog on the beach” as easily as for a line someone said.
Missing B-roll? Generate a shot that matches, on the model that suits it.

Questions.
Should I switch from Descript?
If you mostly edit podcasts and screen recordings, Descript is built for that. If you film people and places and want help finding moments and filling gaps, try Shots.
Can I import a Descript project?
Not yet. Export the video and bring it in, and the transcript is made again in Shots.
Is Shots free?
Yes. The editor is free with no watermark. Pro is $29 a month with 2,500 credits for generating, and Team is $99 a month for up to five people.
