Terms of service

Last updated 6 October 2026

The agreement between you and Parallax Labs Pty Ltd, trading as Shots, for using Shots. We’ve written it to be read: each section starts with the short version, and the full terms follow.

1. About these terms

In short: Shots is run by Parallax Labs Pty Ltd in Melbourne. Using Shots means you agree to these terms.

Shots is a service for generating video, images and sound with AI models and editing them into finished videos. It’s operated by Parallax Labs Pty Ltd, trading as Shots (“Shots”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in Victoria, Australia.

These terms apply to the Shots website, app, API and MCP server (together, “the service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them.

Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.

If you use Shots on behalf of a business or other organisation, you confirm you’re authorised to accept these terms for it, and “you” includes that organisation.

2. Your account

In short: You need to be 18 or over. Keep your login safe; you’re responsible for what happens under it.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Shots. Give us accurate details when you sign up and keep them up to date.

Keep your password and sign-in methods secure, and don’t share your account. You’re responsible for everything done under your account, including by anyone you let use it.

If you think someone has used your account without permission, tell us straight away at support@shots.tech.

Accounts belong to workspaces. The workspace owner controls who’s in the workspace, what they can do, the plan and the billing. If you’re a member of someone else’s workspace, the owner can change your access or remove you, and the content you make there stays with the workspace.

3. Plans, credits and billing

In short: The editor is free. Generating costs credits. Paid plans renew monthly until you cancel.

Editing in Shots is free. Generating with AI models uses credits, and each model costs a set number of credits for each clip, image or minute, shown before you generate. Current plans and prices are on our pricing page.

Free accounts get 50 credits to try Shots. Pro and Team plans include a monthly allowance of credits that refreshes at the start of each billing period. Plan credits you don’t use don’t roll over to the next period. Credits you buy as a top-up don’t expire while your account is open.

Credits belong to the workspace and are shared by everyone in it. They have no cash value, can’t be transferred to another workspace, and can’t be exchanged for money, except where the law requires.

Paid plans are billed in advance each month, in the currency shown at checkout, through our payment provider, Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices include GST where it applies. You can cancel at any time in Settings; your plan keeps working until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again.

If you turn on automatic top-ups, we’ll charge your saved payment method for more credits when your balance drops below the level you set, up to the monthly limit you choose. You can change or turn this off at any time.

If a generation fails, we return its credits automatically. Apart from that, and from your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, payments and used credits aren’t refundable.

If we change our prices, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before the change applies to you. If a payment fails, we may pause generating until it’s sorted out; you’ll still be able to open and export your work.

4. Your content and what you make

In short: What you upload and what you make with Shots is yours. We only use it to run the service for you.

“Your content” means everything you or your workspace upload to Shots, including footage, photos, audio, prompts, reference photos and Elements, and everything you make with it, including generated shots, edits and exports.

As between you and us, you own your content. To run the service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content, only as needed to provide Shots to you and to the people you share with, to keep the service secure, and to comply with the law. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for copies kept briefly in backups.

We don’t use your content to train AI models, and we don’t allow the model providers we use to train on it.

On paid plans you may use what you make for commercial purposes. On the Free plan you may use it for personal and non-commercial purposes. Either way, your use must follow these terms and the law.

You’re responsible for your content and for having the rights you need in it, including rights in footage, music, artwork, trade marks and the people who appear in it.

5. Generating with AI

In short: AI output can be wrong, odd or similar to other people’s. Check it before you publish it.

Shots sends your prompts, frames and references to third-party AI models to generate results. Those models are made by other companies, and their output isn’t written or checked by us.

Generated output can be inaccurate, unexpected or offensive, and may look similar to output made for other people or to existing works. Similar output made for someone else isn’t yours, and yours isn’t theirs. Review what you make before you rely on it or publish it.

Some models have their own use rules, which we pass on. We may block a prompt or a result that a model or our own checks flag as breaking these terms. Credits for blocked generations are returned.

Shots labels generated shots as generated inside the app, and offers to label them when you export. If you publish generated content, follow the disclosure rules of the platforms you post on and the law where you are, and don’t present generated footage of a real event as real.

6. Real people and Elements

In short: Only make Elements or generate likenesses of people who’ve said yes.

An Element is a reusable character, place, prop or style made from reference photos. You may only make an Element of a real person, or generate their likeness or voice, if you are that person or you have their permission, and only for uses they’ve agreed to.

Don’t use Shots to impersonate anyone, to make it look like a real person said or did something they didn’t, or to create sexual or intimate imagery of a real person.

If you see content made with Shots that uses your likeness without permission, tell us at support@shots.tech and we’ll look into it promptly.

7. Acceptable use

In short: Don’t use Shots to break the law, hurt people or break the service.

You must not use Shots to create, upload or share content that:

• sexualises minors in any way, or is sexual content involving real people without their consent;

• is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, threatening or promotes violence;

• infringes someone else’s copyright, trade marks, privacy or other rights;

• is deceptive in a way that could cause harm, such as fake news footage, scams, or impersonating a person or organisation;

• contains malware or personal information about others that you don’t have the right to share.

You also must not: try to get around credit limits, model safety checks or access controls; reverse engineer, scrape or overload the service; resell access to Shots or its models without our written agreement; or use Shots to build a competing model.

We may remove content, block generations, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where it’s appropriate and safe to do so, we’ll tell you what happened and give you a chance to respond. We may report illegal content to the authorities.

8. Sharing, teams and review links

In short: When you share something, the people you share with can see it. You decide who that is.

You can share edits with workspace members and with people outside your workspace using links. Anyone with a link set to “Anyone with the link” can watch without signing in. Turn link sharing off or change it at any time.

Comments and notes left on shared videos are content of the person who wrote them, and are visible to the people the video is shared with.

9. The service and changes to it

In short: We keep improving Shots, and the models we offer will change.

We work to keep Shots available and reliable, but we don’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. We may need to pause it for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.

We may add, change or remove features and models. When a model is withdrawn by its provider, we may replace it with another. If we remove a feature you pay for, we’ll give you reasonable notice where we can.

Shots relies on other companies to run, including hosting, storage, payments and AI model providers. Our privacy policy lists them.

10. Our intellectual property

In short: Shots, its software and its brand belong to us.

We and our licensors own the service, including its software, design, templates, skills, demo media and the Shots name and wordmark. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service under these terms.

Templates, skills and stock assets we provide may be used in what you make with Shots, but not resold or redistributed on their own.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.

11. Ending your account

In short: You can leave whenever you like. Export anything you want to keep first.

You can delete your account, or a workspace you own, in Settings at any time. Export anything you want to keep before you do. Once deleted, your content is removed from Shots within 30 days and from backups within 90 days, unless the law requires us to keep it longer.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must by law, or if we stop offering Shots. Unless it’s urgent or unlawful to do so, we’ll give you notice and a chance to export your content.

Unused credits and any remaining time on a paid plan end when an account or workspace is closed, except where the Australian Consumer Law gives you a right to a refund or where we close Shots for reasons not caused by you, in which case we’ll refund unused paid time.

Sections 4, 10, 12, 13 and 14 continue to apply after your account ends.

12. Your consumer rights and our liability

In short: You keep your rights under Australian law. Beyond those, our liability is limited.

Our services come with guarantees that can’t be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or changes any right or remedy you have under that law or any other law that can’t be excluded.

Where we’re allowed to limit our liability for failing to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.

Otherwise, to the extent the law allows: the service is provided “as is”; we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill; and our total liability to you for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in that period and AUD $100.

We aren’t responsible for what you make with Shots or how you use it, or for content made or shared by other users.

13. If a claim is made because of your content

In short: If someone makes a claim against us because of your content or your breach of these terms, you’re responsible for it.

To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from any third-party claim that arises because your content infringes someone’s rights or because you broke these terms. This doesn’t apply to the extent the loss was caused by us.

14. Disputes and the law

In short: Talk to us first. Victorian law applies.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@shots.tech so we can try to fix it. Most problems can be sorted out quickly.

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. You and we agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria and the courts that can hear appeals from them. If you’re a consumer outside Australia, you may also have rights under the laws of where you live.

If any part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer these terms to someone else without our agreement; we may transfer them to a business that takes over Shots, and we’ll tell you if we do.

15. Changes to these terms

In short: If we make a change that matters, we’ll tell you before it applies.

We may update these terms from time to time. For changes that matter, we’ll tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or safety reasons. If you don’t agree, you can cancel and delete your account before the change applies. If you keep using Shots after that, the new terms apply.
