Most trip videos start at the airport. Most people stop watching before you land. The fix is simple: open on the moment you’d tell a friend about first.
Start on the best moment
Find the laugh, the view or the jump, and put it in the first two seconds. Then go back and tell the story. Shots can find it for you: ask for “the best moment”.
DoOpen on the view from the lookout.
Don’tOpen on six seconds of road.
Cut on the beat
Cuts that land on the beat feel intentional, even when the footage is shaky. Pick the song first, then cut to it, or let Shots line the cuts up for you.
If it doesn’t make you smile on the first watch, cut it.
Stop early
End on a strong shot, a second before it feels finished. People replay a reel that ends too soon. They swipe away from one that ends too late.
