Editing a group trip with six people

NCNick Carlton · 20 Aug 2026

Six of us went to the coast for a long weekend. By Sunday night we had 1,400 clips across six phones and one question: who’s making the video?

Everyone uploads to one place

We made a shared workspace and everyone dropped their clips in. No AirDrop chains, no lost files. Shots sorted them by time and place, so the Saturday swim was in one spot no matter whose phone it came from.

One person cuts, everyone comments

I made the first cut. Everyone else left comments on the timeline: “use my angle here”, “cut the part where I fell”. That last one stayed in.

Make a version for each person

Once the main edit was done, we asked the assistant for a short version of each person’s best moments. Six extra videos, about a minute each to make.
